FFA 2 Levels of Involvement: Senior FFA: Junior FFA: 9th grade to 12th grade Junior FFA: 3rd grade, or 8 years old, to 8th grade FFA

What Being in FFA Permits Becoming a Junior FFA member: Allows your child to show a livestock project at various stock shows Hays County, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, San Angelo, Austin, jackpots Paid admission to Dripping Springs FFA Banquet at the end of the school year Student will receive a certificate for participating in the Junior FFA program Child is eligible to participate in various livestock judging competitions throughout the year What Being in FFA Permits

Quality Counts Program All students showing at the 2017-2018 Major Shows must be certified Internet based course with a verification test Feed labels, medication labels, HACCP, 6 C’s of Success, Labeled use of medication, FFA/4-H mottos, Producer to Consumer cycle Quality Counts Texas Trail Interactive PowerPoint Takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete Afterwards – go to Verification tab and take test Must score an 80 to pass and student can re-take as many times as necessary Can work together

Fees $25 FFA Dues Validation tags 1 year membership Must renew each year Oct. 20th - deadline Validation tags County tags/major show tags Entry fees for major shows will be done at the November meeting It is mandatory that you make that meeting Late fees for majors are expensive ($500) Houston requires notary Entry fee for county show will be at the December meeting Fees

Where will I keep my animal? How do I transport my animal? We will haul to county and majors if needed If you want to go to other shows – you need to locate a trailer/transportation. How do I transport my animal?

Specific Questions What do I feed my animal? We will instruct you on what to feed and how much, in addition to where you can purchase these items Where will we learn basic care techniques? We will schedule work days at the ag barn – weekday after school We will cover basic care, grooming, clipping, doctoring, and showing techniques.
