Baker University Concurrent Credit Program (CCP) Enrollment Information for students planning on taking courses for college credit through Baker University

What is Concurrent Credit? Concurrent Credit Program (CCP): When a high school student takes an approved BVWHS class from an approved high school teacher and receives both high school and college credit. The grade you receive in your BVW course will be the grade you earn on your Baker University Transcript What is Concurrent Credit?

*Benefits of Concurrent Credit Quality Instruction – Our instructors are qualified high school teachers that have been approved to teach by the Baker University faculty. Low Cost – Significantly lower than area public and private colleges and universities. Schedule Flexibility – Students complete general education courses while still in high school. New Baker U Scholarship– Students taking CCP credit in high school are eligible for a $50,000 ($12,500/year) scholarship if they decide to attend Baker Univeristy.

BVW Classes = Baker U Credit BVW Class Title Baker Class Title Course ID Hours Length AP US History History of US to 1877 HI 127 3 hours Fall since 1877 HI 128 Spring AP Macro Economics Principles of Economics: Macro EC 243 AP Chemistry General Chemistry I CH 137 4 hours Year

How do these classes transfer? Baker classes have excellent transferability to colleges or universities across the country and in the state of Kansas. You can check the website for transferability or contact the school directly. Even though the classes will transfer to most colleges and universities, how it transfers to each individual school may be different. It would also be wise to research potential majors to see what class requirements you may need. This will help you better determine which classes you should take now while in high school.

Guidelines for selecting Concurrent College credits Sometimes “more” is just “more” Identify classes to transfer outside of your intended major Ex: Engineering major- social studies & english are good transfers Business Major- math, science, english, etc… You may not need 9 credits of social studies for college There is value in taking a difficult class in high school and then repeating it in college. (Think AP Chemistry?!? for pre-med. Great start to your college GPA) Bottom Line: There are no right or wrong ways to do this. These guidelines should help you make the best decision with the information you have at hand

How does AP credit and CCP differ? Questions... AP Credit Baker CCP Credit How much does it Cost? $100* per test $110/ credit hour When is enrollment? Signup in March, test in May at the end of the course Start of the semester How is Credit Awarded? AP test results, Score 4-5 (Varies by college) “C” or better guarantees credit How will my credits transfer? Accepted by most schools in the country. Credit transfer will vary school to school Baker U credits are widely accepted, but not always accepted by selective schools. AP Transfer Info: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/creditandplacement/search-credit-policies * 2018 AP Test price has not been determined yet
