March in AIS SPELLING BEE There was Spelling Bee at new cafeteria for 7, 8, 9 and 10 y.o. Last week, we watched 9y.o Spelling Bee. There were 14 students who competed at Spelling Bee. The first winner was Yena (Who is standing in middle in the picture.) And the second winner was a Chamonal, Raphael, then the third winner was also a Winston, Lowri. The prize was Spelling Bee T-shirts. (You can see them in the picture!)   Dear readers,                The new month has started! That means the spring is coming soon. Last week we had a lot of events, for example there were CABC, Spelling Bee and others. Also, we had a lot of events this week, too. For example, there are Women’s day, Spring break and other a lot of events will happen.              Today, we will talk about some of these events. Do you know there was Spelling Bee at new cafeteria for 7, 8, 9, and 10y.o? We will tell who was the winner no what was the prize. Also, we will talk about CABC, the basketball tournament. March in AIS CABC Interview Q5. What does CABC means? Introduction: I am doing this interview for the readers to know the point of view of the basketball players in AIS. The person that I am interviewing is Juliette because she is one of the girls in AIS team and she is a player who scored most of the goals in the team. The second reason that I am interviewing her is that she is a good friend of mine. Questions: Q1. How on scale of 1-20 do you like the basketball team? A: 17 Q2. Is it hard to get in the team? A: No, you just have to go to training lessons. Q3. Who did you think was going to win at the beginning? A: I thought it would be AIS, Astana. Q4. What do you think you should do next to improve and be the winners? A: I think we should ameliorate our shooting and our defense, too. Q5. What does CABC means? A: It means Central Asia Basketball Classic. Q6. How many hours did you have to practice a week? A: It depends on week. It is between 2:30 hours and 3:45 hours. Q7. What was the best thing during the tournament? A: The games, because I have never played a match before. Q8. If people tell you, “You are the best player of the girl team,” do you agree? A: Yes, but I am not showing off because of it. Q9. Have you ever played basketball before? A: I have been playing basketball for three years, but I have never played a real match before. Conclusion: After having this interview, I know a lot more about CABC. I hope you learned much about CABC while reading this interview.

March in AIS Survey of Spring Introduction: I interviewed 20 people in AIS about what they are going to do in vacation. You will know what their plan is like. Survey : Are you staying on Spring break? :11 Are you traveling on spring break? :3 Are you going to take a lesson? :4 Are you going to your own country? :2 Total students:20 Conclusion:   My purpose of writing is to inform  how many people are doing what in vacation, so we know what  their plan is like. But also, it is fun and good to know what they are doing. Reading Olympics :On February 1, 2017, our I.E. Class started reading Olympic. Reading Olympic is a competition about reading Raz-Kids. A person who reads the most books wins the Olympic .When Mrs. Issayeva (who is our IE teacher) created this Reading Olympic, there was Winter Olympic in Sochi, Russia. There were some students who didn't read a lot. Because of these two reasons, she made this Olympic. This reading Olympic was held since 2014. The winner of first race was Valeriya, who read 110 Raz-kids books! Each of the people who won first, second, and third place got nice prizes. The winner of this Olympic which was happening from February 1 to February 28, was Hyerin. At the beginning, she wasn’t reading a lot. However,  on the last day, Hyerin made Oscar (who was the winner at that time) feel shocked. Hyerin beat Oscar by reading 21 books on the last day! More interesting thing was that the winner read total 30 books! The third place was Arsen. Each of them also got meaningful prizes. From 2014 to until this Olympic, a student who read the least was Pureum, who read only 4 books in a month!

March in AIS The winner of quiz: Jaewoo, Lee Answer for Wizard of Oz :Who was The Lion? The lion was Seungwon. What was Joella in the performance? Joella was playing Tin Woodsman. Who was not on the stage but spoke? The voice of wizard of Oz was not on the stage, but spoke. Who was on the stage many times without speaking a lot? Toto was not speaking but on the stage almost every time. (She barked, didn't speak) Who is the director of this musical? The director is Ema Horn. How much money did a ticket to “Wizard of Oz” costs? The general cost was 800. If you bought right before the musical, it was 1000. Was Mrs.Issayeva at the musical? Yes! Who was Dorothy played by? Dorothy was played by Caitlin. What time did the performances start? On February 24, the musical started at 7 o’clock. What kind of foods were being sold there?
