Walk-In Take out notebook, folder, pencil box. Copy the question and answer in sentences: Why were the wheel and the plow such important inventions by the Sumerians?

Wheel and Plow The wheel made it easier to transport heavy things, by making wagons and carts with rolling wheels. The plow made farming easier. Animals could be used to pull the plow through the ground to get the soil ready for planting.

Measuring Time The Sumerians based numbers on the number 60. In math, and we still use this today for time! 60 seconds, 60 minutes, and 360 degrees in a circle!

Cuneiform Writing The first alphabet, carved with a stylus into stone tablets, was invented by the Sumerians.

Look at this Cuneiform writing! View the symbols created for Cuneiform writing!
