Food and Nutrition Road Show- Newsletter/ website insert Mellors catering services would like to thank the students of King Ecgbert School for their participation in the Mellors ‘ Spring into Summer’- Food and Nutrition roadshow. Company Nutritionist Danielle Bretherton and Development Chef Andrew Walker started the day chatting to students about the power of beetroot and did a guess the smoothie competition, giving out free samples to students and staff. All students from the school including the new Y6 students moving up in September had the opportunity to ask questions about healthy eating and give their ideas for the next school menu. Chef Andy also did some live theatre cooking at lunch time and students were able to try Chinese vegetable stir fry, which will be included on the theme calendar next year. The day formed part of Mellors commitment to the health and wellbeing of their customers and contributed to a 160 day food and nutrition tour across all of there sites. Danielle and her team will be back in school next term, delivering healthy eating assemblies to the new Year 7 students. Danielle said ‘good nutrition aids children's learning and it is vital that if they want to do well at school they fuel their day with healthy and nutritious food. Mellors are committed to ensuring our menus are nutritionally balanced and that our food is fresh and made daily on site’.
