Ground Plan Project

Rubric Turn in a completed, scale ground plan. Due Friday, April 15. Don’t forget to attach the rubric!!! Proper scale is used (1/4” = 1’) _____/20 Sightlines _____/20 Balance (acting areas) _____/10 Placement of furniture _____/15 Masking _____/20 Neatness _____/10 Title Box _____/5

TIPS Use block capital letters. It is the industry standard. Erase line for door and other openings. Use a ruler or stencil for ALL lines so that it is straight and neat.

TIPS Make sure every opening has masking Masking can be the Cyc (for sky), flats, black leg curtains, plants, etc. You just need to make sure the audience isn’t seeing anything they shouldn’t

TIPS If you have steps up, you must also have steps back down somewhere else. Remember, stairs must be at least 3’ wide and at least 1’ deep.

tips Draw windows as shown on the white board and/or handout It’s usually a good idea to use double swing doors for kitchens. Masking flats are usually 4’ wide (my standard flat size)

tips Both your doors (the diagonal line that sticks out from the wall) and the door openings need to be to scale (usually 3’). Note the flats at the front edges of the set. These are often painted black and serve as masking and to stabilize the wall.
