Picnic Time! Regional Collaboration Table Discussions Emily to say: “Now we’re going to take a break from our long and arduous ‘AmeriCorps Journey’ – we’re going to stop and have a picnic-style lunch! In the hall, we have a Backyard Cookout-themed lunch. Take 15 minutes to grab some food, take a break, check your email, and meet back in here at 12:30 for our Regional Collaboration table topics. There will be a OneStar staff member at each table to help facilitate.

Find your region (by table). Meet the others in your region. Regional Collaboration Find your region (by table). Meet the others in your region. Look over the Regional Collaboration List – any surprises? With your OneStar facilitator, discuss ways you are already collaborating or could collaborate with others in your region. Pick one person per table to report out on how you will enhance your regional collaboration efforts in 2017! Grab your lunch and find the table of where you live/work! A OneStar facilitator will be there to help guide you through our regional collaboration discussions. TABLE FACILITATOR QUESTIONS: Go around and introduce yourselves – name, program, title/role, and if you are already involved in any current AmeriCorps/national service collaborations. What are some of the challenges of collaborating that you’ve encountered? How can those challenges be overcome or made more manageable? What are some of the benefits of collaborating across programs? Are there certain structures you use or have used to make collaboration easier (regular meetings, email list-serves, conference calls, designating 1 person per program as collaboration contact person, etc.)? Here are some examples of collaboration opportunities – let’s stop and talk about each and what you think about each (in chronological order by calendar year): MLK Day of Service – Mid-January AmeriCorps Week – March (usually right before Spring Break) – March 4-11, 2017 Day of Recognition for National Service (“Mayor and County Day”) – First Tuesday of April – April 4, 2017 Graduation / End of Service Recognition Ceremonies – rolling / usually spring or summer for most programs 9/11 Day of Remembrance – September 11 (or week of) annually AmeriCorps Opening Day / Swearing In – usually first Friday of October – October 6, 2017 Veteran’s Day – November 11 (annually) Any other or new ideas about collaboration events/opportunities you’d like to see happen in your region? (encourage brainstorming of ideas) Who wants to report-out to the group on what we’ve discussed? 

Regions: Regional Collaboration Central Texas (Austin area) – Caitlin Heart of Texas (Waco area) – Mary North Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) – Deloris South Texas (Rio Grande Valley) – Emily South-Central Texas (San Antonio & Laredo) – Miranda Southeast Texas (Houston/Gulf Coast area) – Jaclyn West Texas (Amarillo, El Paso, and surrounding areas) – Betty Jo TABLE FACILITATOR QUESTIONS: Go around and introduce yourselves – name, program, title/role, and if you are already involved in any current AmeriCorps/national service collaborations.
