Presentation transcript:

Reading for Fairtrade sports balls!

Sponsored Read! How does it work? Read as many books as you can within a period of time that your teacher or group leader will tell you. Ask friends and family to sponsor you for every book, poem or song lyrics that you manage to read! What do I read? Picture books, graphic novels/comics, poetry, chapter books, autobiographies, history books - the sky (or the library!) is the limit!

Where does the money go to? The money we raise helps us to buy Fairtrade sports balls which are made in 2 factories in a city called Sialkot in Pakistan. So we get nice new balls AND we get to support Fairtrade and the workers who make the balls! 

How will it help the people of Sialkot, Pakistan? The money we spend purchasing Fairtrade balls will support workers to get a fair wage and produce balls in safer and better conditions. The Fairtrade Premium the workers receive is spent on community projects such as fee eye tests, free schoolbags for workers’ children and water purification plants.

How does our school benefit from it? We get to purchase brand new high quality sports balls (footballs made to FIFA equivalent standards)! We raise our literacy levels and get people around us involved in supporting a great cause.

So, how does it work again? Sign up for the Sponsored Read Ask your family or anyone else who can sponsor you Read as many books comics or poems as you can! Collect your sponsor money Hand into the school and add you name up on your class book star list
