Course Description This course has been structured to teach students the fundamentals of pre-Algebra. Topics of discussion will include: Connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division Completing the understanding of division of fractions Extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers Writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations Geometry Developing understanding of statistical thinking. Class and Supplemental Materials Students are expected to bring: Pencil/ Red Pen / Highlighter 3 ring Folder with textbook pages of current chapter Previous class notes Any supplemental material Class Fees will be paid online http://www.onlinerene.com/fees/search.aspx Students are to use the textbook set (2 books total) of : Regular: Middle School Math Solution Course 1 by Carnegie Learning Advanced: Middle School Math Solution Course 2 by Carnegie Learning Students are expected to watch any supplemental videos that are posted on school website. This supplemental videos are usually given before a topic so we can have a basis for conversation at the beginning of next class.

Student Expectations Students are to come prepared and ready to learn. That means having all materials and having completed any homework that was assigned. After 3 verbal warnings and a call home student will receive a detention for not improving or modifying his/her behavior. Electronic devices are not allowed in class. (It will be confiscated and sent to the main office per school policy). Eating and Drinking are not allowed in my classroom unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office (i.e. a diabetic student). Bathroom passes are for emergencies only- will be given three passes per nine week unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office. Complete their homework daily and continually studying for the course.
