Presentation transcript:

PSHE at Marlborough Primary School Although PHSE is not a statutory requirement of the national curriculum, at Marlborough Primary we recognise the importance of supporting pupils to develop these skills. Our delivery of PSHE/C is supported through our use of the SEAL materials, Chris Quigley Skills and National Curriculum Citizenship Guidelines. Our PSHE/C lessons also coincide with the Every Child Matters outcomes and Building Learning Power Skills. PSHE/C delivery is closely aligned with the development of SMSC skills and they are often interwoven through other areas of the curriculum. A significant contribution is also made by school ethos, Building Learning Power skills, effective relationships throughout the school, collective worship, and other curriculum activities.

PSHE at Marlborough Primary School Throughout school pupils should be taught to: •Try new things •Work hard •Concentrate •Push themselves •Imagine •Improve •Understand others •Not give up We use the 5 Rs in school to show the expectations we have for pupils’ behaviour and attitudes. They are: Reflection: Pupils are encouraged to reflect on their work, on their behaviour and actions and to use this to inform future choices. Resourcefulness: Pupils are encouraged to develop independence through choosing resources that will help them. Relationships: Pupils are encouraged to develop positive relationships with all people in our school and community. Resilience: Pupils are encouraged to keep trying and not give up. Risk-taking: Pupils are encouraged to take a risk in trying something new or challenging.

PSHE at Marlborough Primary School Many curriculum areas provide opportunities to: Listen and talk to each other. Learn an awareness of treating all as equals. Agree and disagree. Work cooperatively and collaboratively
