Welcome to A Level Drama and Theatre Studies By the end of this course you will: Have a thorough understanding of a range of theatre practitioners and be able to apply their theories practically. Rehearse and perform in a variety of scripted and devised productions which incorporate a range of performance skills and techniques. Analyse and evaluate texts and live theatre. A level Drama and Theatre You will study... In Year 12 Modern theatre companies and practitioners. You will devise your own piece, perform it and complete coursework on the process. You will watch a professional play and evaluate it. Study a play text (Such as Machinal or Equus) in practice. You will study... In Year 13 A second play text (such as Woyzeck) and from the perspective of a particular practitioner such as Brecht or Artaud. You will also take on the role of director. Performance technique through a play (focusing on a particular style) and monologue. Performance exam. You will watch a professional play and evaluate it. Coursework is very different to the current GCSE coursework – there is less of it!
