NEED FOR CLARIAS I High cost of animal source of protein. Heavy protein need and high cases of nutritional deficiency in West Africa. Problem of rigid requirement of fish weight and narrow market due to presence of foreign fish importation competing with the indigenous fish industry.
NEED FOR CLARIAS II Bad processing and packaging of fish and eventual sale of unwholesome fish to consumers. Environmental pollution from fish wastage and spoilage from poor preservative methods. Need for establishment of production industries and wealth creation.
