7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens The how to of being successful throughout life!

7 HABITS Habit 1- Be Proactive Habit 2- Begin with the End in Mind Habit 3- Put First Things First Habit 4- Think Win-Win Habit 5- Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood Habit 6- Synergize Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw

Habit 1- Be Proactive What do proactive people do that reactive people don’t? Proactive people take responsibility for their lives Proactive people make choices based on values and think before they act. Reactive people make choices based on impulse or peer-pressure. Proactive people say, “I’ll do it or I choose to.” Reactive people say, “I’ll try or I have to.” Proactive people are not easily offend. Proactive people bounce back when something bad happens Proactive people are goal oriented. Proactive people focus on things they can do something about, and don’t worry about things they can’t. Proactive people have self-control at all times, even when someone is rude to them.

Habit 2- Begin with the End in Mind-Control your own life, don’t let life happen to you! This means you develop a clear picture of where you want your life to go… It means deciding your values and setting goals both short term and long term This habit helps you turn your dreams into realities! You are the driver of your life, so you better know where you are going! Write your own goals as your directions.

Habit 3- Put First Things First If you put first things first, then you will have control of your life, balance, and high performance. Use your tracker Take 10- 15 minutes each day to plan what is the most important things I need to accomplish today. Block out time to accomplish the most important tasks Schedule everything else you want to do

Habit 4- Think Win-Win Thinking WIN-WIN is an attitude towards life, a mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. Be happy for others accomplishments, not jealous. Celebrate your accomplishments and who you are!!!!

Habit 5- Seek FIRST to understand, then to be understood You have two ears and one mouth, so listen more and talk less! Listen first, talk second. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes before judging them Paraphrasing what someone is saying if it seems important to them Don’t start thinking about what you are going to say next when someone is talking

Habit 6- Synergize Synergy is achieved when two or more people work together to create a better solution than either could alone. Synergy is celebrating differences. Synergy is teamwork. Synergy is open-mindedness. Synergy is finding new and better ways to solve problems together.

Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw Plan some “ME TIME” Body Time- exercise, eat healthy, sleep well, and relax Brain Time- READ, educate yourself, learn new skills, and reflect Heart Time- build relationships, do community service, and laugh

7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Every FMS Student is capable of being a success! These habits will help you achieve your goals and dreams! We will learn a new habit each month. Get ready to accomplish AMAZING things this year!
