Brief overview of Plan India in Jharkhand WES Net Meeting 29th July 2011

Plan India in Jharkhand Initiated its operation from January 2011 Working both on Grant as well as Core fund Working focusing Child Centered Community Development (CCCD) approach Partners-- CINI: working in 20 villages of Khunti Districts focussing Child Traffcking & Education issues NBJK: Working in 15 villages of Churchu block of Hazaribag district in an integrated approach. IDF: Working in 15 villages of Khutpani block of West Singhbhum district in an integrated approach. In coming 4 years Plan India is planning to cover 150 villages in integrated approach.

Plan India in Jharkhand As per Country Strategic Plan III we are focusing on National Programs in 7 thematic domain- -Education, -ECCD, -Health, -Child Protection, -Child Participation, -Household Economic Security, -WES.

Plan India in Jharkhand Working detail-WES It is one of the most important area of work for Plan India and its working philosophy is to work on the access and demand generation at the grass-root level as well as do proactive advocacy with the duty bearer to make the services available. Plan India will promote household toilet construction and to improve the hygiene behaviour practices of the community adopt Sustainable Community Owned Total Sanitation (SCOTS) approach School Sanitation is another focus area in WES. In case of Water Plan India interventions will focus on safe handling, water quality and management of water, rather than supply of water for drinking purpose.
