Personality Type What type are you? Personality Type is the innate way people naturally see the world and make decisions. People are the most happiest and most successful in jobs that allow them t use their greatest natural gifts. Persoality type is one method used to determine what those gifts are and in which occupations they find the greatest opportkunity for expresseion. Personality Type What type are you?

What is Personality? The essential character of a person Parts of a person’s character that are noticeable to others. A collection of personal qualities Stable- interests and skills change throughout life, but personality doesn’t change very much.

Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I) #1. How and where do you get your energy? (Football activity)

Extraversion Is energized by being with others Enjoys talking out loud about ideas Acts before thinking

Introversion Is energized by inner resources and internal experiences Thinks before acting Carefully considers an idea before discussing or making a decision about it

Sensing (S) – Intuitive (N) #2. How do you prefer to take in information? (The raisin experiment) S facts real & tangible observant about specifics now N possibilities focus on relationships and connections between facts –> future

Sensing Likes precise directions Wants material presented step-by-step Wants the facts when discussing an issue and mistrusts vague ideas

Intuition Has a seemingly sporadic approach rather than an ordered, step-by-step approach Moves quickly to conclusions, follow hunches Dislikes taking time for precision

Thinking (T) - Feeling (F) #3. How do you make decisions? Dilemma: classroom trip to California T Decisions through logic and truth F Decisions through emotion

Judging (J) or Perceiving (P) #4. How do you organize your life? J: you like to have things decided; your life is likely to be planned and orderly. P: you don’t want to miss anything; your way of life is likely to be spontaneous and flexible.

Judging Gets assignments in on time (tries to avoid last-minute stress) Lives by schedules that are not easily altered Works best when work can be planned and the plan is followed

Perceiving Feels energized by last-minute pressures May begin working on a task before the directions are completed Likes things loose and open to change
