E450AJ BOOMLIFT for DECAM Tasks The E450AJ boom lift equipment arrives to CTIO this week and several movements and tasks around 4m building were performed in order to confirm: - Rigging and lifting procedure. Operative ranges. Behavior : Oscillation, response time, Emergency fuses. Dario Guajardo (TelOps) and F. Munoz (ETS) were trained to safe operate this stuff by the vendor, last week before arrival.
E450AJ BOOMLIFT for DECAM Tasks Handling to C-floor: - Quite complex task: 5 people, 4 hours - Requires M&P floors sub hatch removal , AC chamber up. Both 50-5 hook at bridge crane to be used. - Specific 8m slings + 6 shackles (purchased).

E450AJ BOOMLIFT for DECAM Tasks Stow at C-floor - Stuff weighs 6.7 tons and must be parked west side of telescope (beams frame can resist this load) - Check always interference with dome rotation - Charge batteries ALL NIGTHS. Don’t lead batteries to a full discharge. (supply: 220 VAC.) - Equipment is stow by locking 3 safety points: 2 push buttons plus a key. - No oil leaks detected after 3 operative days. During shutdown both battery charging and key management should be under foreman check list.
E450AJ BOOMLIFT for DECAM Tasks Operative: - boomlift height is 45 ft (13.8m) straight vertical. People could reach from c-floor to lower side of dome catwalk (bridge crane structure) ~ 15.25 meters. Horizontal limit is 7m at 5m height - Hydraulic systems at the primary and secondary arms has no delay in response, lifting speed is adjusted by a controlled valve. Delay could increase to few seconds at the top vertical position. (TAMU test) - For complex arms configuration, the basket could reach the position in 90s (telescope scaffold access, over the horseshoe structure ) - Oscillation at top position is slightly affected by dome rotation
