How To Get Started The Three T’s of Transition Timeliness - Create a transition timeline for your organization that allows all incoming and outgoing officers to have effective time to transfer over information Transparency - Share all important information will the incoming executive councils. Don’t be afraid to talk about failure and share successes. Turnover - Be a resource to incoming officers when they take over after the transitioning period. Don’t be that checked out senior.

Timeliness Reserve a meeting room - Makes the meeting more effective. Create an outline Common topic and discussion points Add times and who is presenting Go over all operations Allow a panel for officers to ask questions to the old officers. Transition in a month before the new leadership team takes control. This allows for a smoother less rushed transition

Transparency Transparency- is the part of the transition process that sets up the next officers for success. Disadvantages of College Organization Sometimes lose momentum Items get lost in translation Lack of direction Ways to Combat Disadvantages Provide honest feedback to new officers (good and bad) Give the officers a wish list (things you wish you would have done) Pose a challenge (Give the new officers a reason to grow the organization)

Turnover Turnover - the process of letting the new officers take over Ways to Create Effective Turn Over Exchange Contact information Be a resource Stay involved Things Not to Do Don’t be overbearing Know when to provide feedback Drop off the map and become a ghost

Tips & Tricks Put school first Paperwork If you aren’t getting good grades, chances are, you won’t last long in your organization. Paperwork Get it done early, in case of errors. Registration Be aware of appropriate deadlines depending on situation. CampusLINK Update calendar, contact information, documents, and forms at least once a week. Constant Communication Respond to emails promptly. Check your email everyday, twice a day! Keep other officers in check, but don’t over-control them. You should be communicating with officers throughout each day! Manage Time Wisely Get tasks done early. The sooner, the better! Think: Why not do it now?

Organize to Maximize Assure you have a consistent filing process Google Drive Calendars, programming reports, and anything else can all go here! Binder Good for miscellaneous notes, helpful contacts, and item lists. CampusLINK Stores photos, forms, documents, notes Won’t ever be deleted unless someone removes them Serves as a communication forum Try to stick with one of these options Utilizing multiple forums can cause confusion

Transition Meeting Layout Get to know each other! Establish a relationship where everyone can be honest and open Set realistic and attainable goals. Ask yourself two questions: What and Why List your options for the semester (events, programs, get-togethers) Things you want to do Determine dates and times for your calendar.
