About Eleanor & park Both Eleanor and Park are 16 years old and are sophomores in high school. Eleanor has red curly hair and even though she doesn’t want to stand out she really does, especially because she wears clothes for men and bracelets/necklaces all around her. Park is half Korean and half American, he is the only Asian in the whole school and neighborhood which really has him standing out even though he also doesn't want to stand out.

plot

theme I think the main theme in this book is love. The whole book revolves around Eleanor and Park’s relationship; they go from hating each other to not being able to live without each other.

Symbolism At the end of the story there was a postcard that was sent to Park and it only had 3 words on it. The book does not reveal what those 3 words were but I think it said “I love you”.

Climax The climax of the story was when Eleanor found out who was writing her mean notes on her text book cover almost daily. She then decided she couldn’t stay anymore and had to leave with the help of Park.

genre Young-Adult Fiction Love Friendship

Why did I pick this book? Before I read Eleanor and Park I read Fangirl which is also by Rainbow Rowell. I really enjoyed that book so I decided to read Eleanor and Park which one of my friends also recommended to me. I really liked the book so I recommend it to both girls and boys because it’s from a girl’s and a boy’s point of view.

Relating to eleanor I cant really relate to Eleanor because growing up has been very hard for her, Richie (her stepdad) has been very mean and cruel to Eleanor and the whole family which never happened in my family so I cannot relate to that. What I can relate to is that Eleanor doesn’t want to stand out, but she does. I don’t really want to either but I kind of do because of my skin tone and just like eleanor; the hair.

Rainbow Rowell Author of young-adult books She lives in Nebraska with her husband and 2 sons She is 41 years old Eleanor & park and Fangirl are her most famous books
