National Stereotypes- First Class 1. Begin the session with the question "Stereotypes of different nations / races." Ask students if they have related experiences themselves, tell students to share what they know or think about this to arouse interest.
National Stereotypes- First Class 2. Give students the handout of "National Stereotypes" (Attachment a1). Begin with the listening comprehension part 2.1. Ask students to match the speakers to the nationality.

National Stereotypes- First Class 3. Ask students to pay attention to the clues, e.g. the accent and vocabulary used, while elicit some more details at the same time. Then fill the blanks in 2.2.
National Stereotypes- First Class 4. Ask students to reflect upon the questions given in section e, see if there are some stereotypes common to their nationality. Discuss and give their answers. Hear students' answers and work more on discussion and follow-up questions.
National Stereotypes- Second Class 1. Make use of the same handout (Attachment a1). Move on to the reading section this time. Ask students for some other common national stereotypes, e.g. Japanese or Spanish and so on.
National Stereotypes- Second Class 2. Give students 1 minute to read the article on their own.
National Stereotypes- Second Class 3. Go through section g, ask students to discuss and give their answers. Hear students' answers and work more on discussion and follow-up questions.
National Stereotypes- Second Class 4. Ask students to discuss and to interview foreign friends around them. Students are asked to present what they have learned next time. * Alternatively, students can also choose to subscribe and leave comments on these clips to interact with these foreigners and to understand each other better.
National Stereotypes- Third Class 1. Ask students to present the interview results. 2. Give feedback and comments, and ask other groups to answer or to raise questions.
National Stereotypes- Third Class 3. Begin again with a discussion of what students know about south Asia, the Indians and their culture. Encourage students to share their ideas to arouse interest.
National Stereotypes- Third Class 4. Make use of the handout "India" (Attachment a2).
National Stereotypes- Third Class 5. Ask students to share their thoughts. Ask students to brainstorm some of the cultural phenomena in Taiwan which may be surprising or of interest to the foreigners. Ask students to try and find the origin of these things, and present them in an organized writing or a video clip.
National Stereotypes- Fourth Class 1. Review the content covered before. 2. Make use of internet resource to arouse interest and bring about further discussion.
