Themes The themes of the book Indian captive are Perseverance and Bravery. The theme Bravery is a theme because Mary is very brave when she is captured by Indians because I would be very scared and not brave. I also chose the theme Perseverance because she pushes through all the pain that she has like not seeing her family for a long time.

Summary The book Indian Captive is about a girl named Mary Jemison and she gets taken away by a group of Indians. For a long time Mary was stuck with the Indians and she started to become good friends with the Indians. Mary misses her family so much and she now really wants to get back to her family. Will she get back to her family or will she not, read Indian captive to find out.
