Step 2 Write a one - two paragraph book talk for your independent reading book. The purpose of a book talk is to convince your audience to read the book. Don’t give too much information away. Entice them!

Step 3 Select a passage to read to the class. This passage should give the class a taste for the narrative voice and entice them further. Homework- Finish your book talk and add a passage to it. The passage can be pasted in, copied by hand, or referenced (page & ¶ #) and bookmarked.
Book Talk Requirements Purpose- Sell your book; entice other readers; make your classmates want to read it Audience- Your classmates Content- You must include the title, author, and genre; introduce the main character and conflict(s); and most importantly, entice your audience to read the book. [1-2 paragraph limit] Additionally, to give your audience a taste for the text, you need to share a passage. Delivery- Recite your book talk to the class. Your delivery should aid in enticing the audience. [That means your tone and inflection should help hold your audience’s attention and help sell the book.]
