SAVE WATER MEANS WATER CONSERVATION Water Conservation Refers To The Protection Of Different Water Resources. Water  Conservation Is The Most Cost-effective And Environmentally Sound Way To Reduce Our Demand For water.

WHY IMPORTANT TO CONSERVE WATER Most Of The Planet Is Covered With Water But It Is Salty Water. Salty Water Can Only Be Consumed By Humans And Other Species Only After Desalination, Which Is An Expensive Process. Water Conservation Is Important As Fresh And Clean Water Is A Limited Resource On Earth .

HOW DO WE CONSERVE WATER? Shower Bucket. ... Turn Off The Tap While Brushing Your Teeth. ... Turn Off The Tap While Washing Your Hands. ... If It's Yellow, Let It Mellow. ... Fix Your Leaks. ... Water Fact: The Average American Household Uses 400 Gallons Of Water Per Day! Re-use Your Pasta Cooking Liquid. ... Head To The Car Wash.

Water wasted every day Wasted water comes with a cost. The city of Daytona Beach, Fla., estimates that a faucet leaking 10 drips every minute wastes 526 gallons of water per year, adding up to $10.91. Clearly, a running toilet can waste much more — and cost much more — than that.

NATIONAL WATER POLICY ACT National Water Policy. National Water Policy is formulated by the Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of India to govern the planning and development of water resources and their optimum utilization. The first National Water Policy was adopted in September, 1987.

IMPORTANT POINTS ON NATIONAL WATER POLICY Envisages To Establish A Standardized National Information System With A Network Of Data Banks And Data Bases Resource Planning And Recycling For Providing Maximum Availability To Give Importance To The Impact Of Projects On Human Settlements And Environment. Guidelines For The Safety Of Storage Dams And Other Water-related Structures Regulate Exploitation Of Groundwater Setting Water Allocation Priorities In The Following Order: Drinking Water, Irrigation, Hydropower, Navigation, Industrial And Other Uses. The Water Rates For Surface Water And Ground Water Should Be Rationalized With Due Regard To The Interests Of Small And Marginal Farmers.

PRECAUTIONS TAKEN TO CONSERVE WATER Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth – this can save 6 litres of water per minute. Place a cistern displacement device in your toilet cistern to reduce the volume of water used in each flush. You can get one of these from your water provider. Take a shorter shower. Shower can use anything between 6 and 45 litres per minute. Always use full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher – this cuts out unnecessary washes in between. Fix a dripping tap. A dripping tap can waste 15 litres of water a day, or 5,500 liters of water a year. Install a water butt to your drainpipe and use the water collected to water your plants, clean your car and wash your windows. Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hosepipe. A hosepipe uses 1,000 litres of water an hour. Mulching your plants (with bark chippings, heavy compost or straw) and watering in the early morning and late afternoon will reduce evaporation and also save water.

CONT….. Fill a jug with tap water and place this in your fridge. This will mean you do not have to leave the cold tap running for the water to run cold before you fill your glass. Install a water meter. When you're paying your utility provider for exactly how much water you use, laid out in an itemised bill, there's an incentive to waste less of the stuff. Invest in water-efficient goods when you need to replace household products. You can now buy water-efficient showerheads, taps, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers and many other water-saving products. For more information visit the Water wise website.
