POINTS TO REMEMBER Most birds make nest in the beginning of the summer season. They make nests on trees , between stones ,behind shells ,on leaves etc. Nests are made of grass, twigs, roots, wool, hair, leaves and even cob webs. Birds have many enemies like human beings and animals who steal their eggs. Birds’ feet are according to their need .i.e., webbed feet to live in water, crooked feet to hold tree branches. Birds’ beaks depend on the food they eat. Animals and human beings have teeth depending on their food requirements.

Tailor bird NESTS OF BIRDS TAILOR BIRD stitches two leaves on a bush with its sharp beak to make a nest and lays eggs on the fold of the leaf .

DUCK Most male ducks are silent and female ducks actually quack. Ducks often choose parts of a garden where the vegetation provides them enough cover in which to conceal the nest. When constructing her nest, a duck will line it with soft down feathers she plucks from her own breast. This gives the eggs the best possible cushioning and insulation. Ducklings are covered with down and able to walk and leave the nest just a few hours after hatching. Most male ducks are silent and female ducks actually quack.

WEAVER BIRD The birds build their nests together for protection, often several to a branch. The nests are woven with long strips of paddy leaves, rough grasses and long strips torn from palm fronds. Usually the male birds weave the nests and use them as a form of display to attract prospective females. The weaver bird colonies may be found close to water bodies. Male bird is known to make up to 500 trips to complete a nest. The nest, being suspended from thorny trees and overhanging water, is protected from many predators.

Indian Robin Male feeding the young Nests are built between rocks, in holes in walls or in a tree hollow Eggs hatch in about 10–12 days. Chicks have black down. Both males and females feed the young, the males sometimes passing food to the female which in turn feeds the young.

They are no longer on earth because of inhuman behavior of people. EXTINCT BIRDS They are no longer on earth because of inhuman behavior of people. MOA GREAT AUK PASSENGER PIGEON DODO

Bird migration is the regular seasonal journey done by many types of birds. MIGRATORY BIRDS Birds migrate for food ,change of habitat or because of extreme climate.

Beaks of birds are used to tear and eat meat, to make holes in wood to suck nectar to find worms from water to break and crush seeds.

Feet help the bird to go in the water, catch prey, hold branches , walk on land walk on snow
