1. THE APPLICANT Eligible applicants* must be engaged in a research programme: PhD students, postdoctoral fellows or researchers, officially affiliated to an institution or legal entity, public or private. The institution where the applicant is affiliated is the HOME institution. The institution hosting the applicant is the HOST Institution. The HOME and HOST institution should be located in different countries. STSMs within the same country are NOT ELIGIBLE. Early Career Investigator (ECI) are researchers within a time span of up to 8 years from the date they obtained their PhD/doctorate (full-time equivalent). * Master students are not eligible

2. THE STSM: OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE To support short term scientific missions contributing to the scientific scope of the SARCOS ACTION, allowing participants to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data, instruments and/or methods not available in home institutions/organizations

2.1. STSM-Eligibility Rules STSM must respect the following criteria: 1. They must have a minimum duration of 5 days. 2. They must have a maximum duration of 90 days. 3. STSM need to be carried out in their entirety within a single Grant Period and always within the Action’s lifetime. Specific additional provisions have been enacted by the CSO to encourage the participation of Early Career Investigators (ECI) in STSM. To qualify for these specific provisions, the following conditions apply: 1. The mission must have a minimum duration of 91 days. 2. The mission must have a maximum duration of 180 days. 3. STSM performed by ECI need to be carried out in their entirety within a single Grant Period and always within the Action’s lifetime.

2.2. STSM-Financial Rules An STSM grant is a fixed financial contribution which takes into consideration the budget request of the applicant and the outcome of the evaluation of the STSM application. STSM Grants do not necessarily cover all expenses related to undertaking a given mission. A STSM Grant is a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the Grantee. The calculation of the financial contribution for each STSM must respect the following criteria: up to a maximum of EUR 2 500 in total can be afforded to each successful STSM applicant; up to a maximum of EUR 160 per day can be afforded for accommodation and meal expenses. For ECIs, the calculation for an increased financial contribution must respect the following criteria: up to a maximum of EUR 3 500 in total can be afforded to ECIs for missions with a duration of between 91 and 180 days; *CA 15202 MC can approve differentiated country rates for subsistence per day, based on the cost of living in each respective country

3. THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE The applicant must prepare the following documents: 1. Letter of invitation to the applicant from a senior Researcher affiliated to the Host institution (see template 01). 2. STSM application form (automatically generated by the e-cost after applying at https://e-services.cost.eu/stsm/apply/new). 3. A motivation letter from the applicant including a work plan detailing the proposed activities (see template 03). 4. A support letter / Email from the Home Institution (see template 04). 5. A 2-page C.V. of the applicant (including a list of academic publications – if applicable) NOTE: You may need to make your registration at https://e-services.cost.eu if you still don’t have a profile in the e-cost system.

before the deadline expires How to submit the application: Once you have ready the documents 1, 3, 4 and 5 above mentioned, you must complete, submit and download the STSM application on line on: https://e-services.cost.eu/stsm/apply/new This step will generate your document 2 (STSM application form). EVALUATION PROCESS EVALUATION PANEL Evaluation by a panel of 3 experts, having no conflicts of interest appointed by the STSM Reviewers selected from different WG In case of conflict the Action Chair will be called EVALUATION RANKING Quantitative Marks Gender issue balance Geographical inclusiveness

5. EVALUATION CRITERIA For each criterion: Marks: 1 to 5 RELEVANCE FOR THE COST ACTION (Weight 30%) Compliance with the objective and work plan of the CA 152002 Impact for the CA SCIENTIFIC QUALITY OF THE WORK PLAN (Weight 40%) Scientific relevance of the research programme Industrial relevance of the research programme outcomes SCIENTIFIC QUALITY OF THE APPLICANT AND HOST (Weight 30%) Skills of the applicant Facilities and conditions offered by the host institution For each criterion: Marks: 1 to 5 Where: 1 is poor, 2 fair, 3 good, 4 very good, 5 excellent After the evaluation and approval from the STSM Coordinator, the Grant Holder will notify the applicant.

The report and pictures will be published at the SARCOS website. 6. AFTER THE STMS A scientific report* of the results reached during the visit should be sent, within the deadlines stated in the call, to all these persons: The STSM coordinator (Emilija Fidanchevski, emilijaf@tmf.ukim.edu.mk). The Chair (Mercedes Sánchez Moreno, mercesanc@ietcc.csic.es). The Host The Grant Holder Manager (Pepa Bayarri, sarcos.pepa@gmail.com). IMPORTANT: IF THE REPORT IS NOT PROVIDED BEFORE THE DEADLINE, WE WILL NOT BE AUTHORISED BY COST TO RELEASE THE PAYMENT OF THE GRANT. 2. An official letter / Email from a senior Researcher affiliated to the Host institution formally accepting the scientific report should be sent to Grant Holder Manager (sarcos.pepa@gmail.com) and STSM coordinator (emilijaf@tmf.ukim.edu.mk) 3. A copy of the grantee’s passport to sarcos.pepa@gmail.com. 4. Complete home address of grantee to sarcos.pepa@gmail.com. 5. A few (2 or 4) representative pictures (related to the work done) to sarcos.pepa@gmail.com. The report and pictures will be published at the SARCOS website.

Please limit your scientific report to 2 pages *Content of the scientific report: - Aims of the STSM; - Description of the work carried out during the STSM; - Discussion of the scientific and industrial impacts; - Future collaboration with the host institution (if applicable); - Foreseen publications/articles resulting from the STSM (if applicable); - Other comments (if any). Please limit your scientific report to 2 pages
