Coral Reefs

Map of Coral Reef Biome

Where they are normally found Found around the globe. In warm waters. Corals can’t stand temperatures below an average of 18 degrees Celsius Limits the habitat to waters between 23 degrees north and 23 degrees south. In Florida they end around Miami. Some coral reefs are found in the Carolinas. More diverse on east coasts of continents. Found mostly in Caribbean, Florida, and Brazil.

physical Characteristics Warm Water Shallow Water Hard coral reef there will be limestone skeletons Hard corals don’t tolerate sea water salinity that goes over those usually found in open oceans. They will not survive long exposure to salinity outside of the range of about 30-38 ppt.. Over 18 degrees Celsius

Organisms that make up the base of the food web Zooxanthellae Algal Cells Coral reef microalgae Phytoplankton Coral Polyp Algae Seagrasses, are especially important.

These are all animals frequently seen on the Coral Reefs. Sea Fans Sharks Butterfly Fish Nudibranchs Sea Stars Cuttlefish Clownfish Turtles Sea Snakes These are all animals frequently seen on the Coral Reefs.
