Usse Juan Carlos Marquez French IV Period

Information about the chateau The chateau was built in the 11th century Usse was built as a military fort. It was built to protect French nobility from foreign and domestic invaders.

Three unique features of the château 1. It is known as the Sleeping Beauty Castle 2. The chateau inspired Walt Disney’s many cartoon castles. 3 Usse is a symbol of the medieval fairytale castle inhabited by nobility and gentry.

Two Important events: 1.   Jacques d’Espinay built the churchand it was completed by his son Charles in 1538. 2 In 1885 the comtesse de la Rochejaquelein bequeathed Ussé to her great-nephew, the comte de Blacas

My opinion of the château Obviously I like the chapel. It harkens back to a period in world history in which feudal lords ruled the land extravagance was the style. However, I would not like to live there as it would probably be impractical. Many of these castles were not built ergonomically, thus frustrating many kings and queens who would inhabit these grand palaces.

Château quiz Five fill in the blank questions and answers about your château 1. Why was the chatuea built? 2. Who did this castle inspire? 3. In what year was the castle built? 4.What is another name for this castle? 5. Who built this castle?

Personal interest 1 I enjoy learning about the French chateaus because I find that it the era in which these were built is the most exciting period of history ever. It has inspired two of my favorite books, Les Miserables and The Count of Monte Cristo.
