PIXL The EDGE The attributes that the EDGE focus on are crucial in your child’s transition from a child to an adult. If they can identify how they are developing these then they will be better placed to be successful in achieving them.

Introduction Watch the Introductory video Students in year 7 should aim to complete the Apprentice PIXL EDGE by the end of year 9. Some students may complete it in one year. They can then move onto the Graduate programme.

What the PiXL Edge is… An opportunity to develop important attributes for life: Leadership Organisation Resilience Initiative Communication An opportunity to make yourself attractive to further education and future employers An opportunity to give you the EDGE

Year 7 Student Logistics Go to school website Open PIXL EDGE under Students Log in using your login and password Search the activity list to identify ways that you can develop the key attributes. Select an activity, say what you are going to do and identify a date for completion. Once complete explain how you developed your learning in that attribute.

Example Below is an example based on their visit to Pinkery that all year 7 can complete in their EDGE. It is being done after the event on this occasion but for other activities they should be entered into the system before they are undertaken.

Using the data base Identify Resilience and select Complete a residential outdoor activity course

Even though you have already done this write the activity as if you are going to go to Pinkery. Put a completion date of a weeks time You will then write down how you developed your resilience by going to Pinkery.

Evaluation Writing the evaluation is one of the most important aspects of the process. It is at this point that your child must explain what they have learn’t and how they have developed the key attribute identified.

The EDGE Please encourage your child to complete their EDGE activities. They may use activities from both in and out of school. The attributes that the EDGE focus on are crucial in your child’s transition to adulthood. If they can identify how they are developing these attributes then they will be better placed to be successful in achieving them.
