Discovering Disciplines- Paraphrase Week 2, Wednesday
Paraphrasing What is it? Discuss.
Paraphrasing Paraphrasing is writing the ideas of another person in your own words. You need to change the words and the structure but keep the meaning the same. You must acknowledge it. It can be the same length, shorter or longer. It may be just a small part of a text linked to other ideas and other references. It is used to support ideas in academic writing.
INTERDISCIPLINARITY What does ‘interdisciplinary’ mean?

Http://www.ucl.ac.uk/basc/faq/interdisciplinarity It might be observed that infection tend to increase when neighbouring societies eat specific types of food.
Task 4- Possible paraphrase Art historians may wish to discover more about artists from the past. By obtaining a painter’s original work, they might uncover something about the composition of the paint and the canvas and also relate the paintings to other works from the same time period. The combination of disciplines required to access this information could lead to a better comprehension of the life and creations of a wonderful painter (UCL, 2013). Show this after students have attempted their own paraphrase. Get them to note the formal style and use of caution as well as the way it is paraphrased.
