September 11, 2017 Mrs. Fesperman’s Classroom Newsletter A Look at Last Week and This Week What Are We Learning? Math (1.NBT.1a) I can count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. (1.NBT.1b) I can write to 120. (1.NBT.1c) I can read numbers to 120. ELA (1.RL.2a) I can retell a story using important details. (1.RL.2c) I can use details to describe the characters of a story. (1.RL.7a) I can use illustrations and details in a story to describe the character. (1.W.3a) I can write a story telling about two events in order. Social Studies (1.C&G.1.3) I can describe how conflicts may be resolved in fair and just ways. I can determine the most appropriate way to manage conflict in my home, school, or community. Science Introduction to what a scientist is and visit CCE Science Lab. Weekly Spelling & Reading Words Spelling and reading words have started and were sent home on Friday, September 8th. We will assess students the following Friday on the words sent home the week before. Spanish Phrase of the Week Mucho gusto – Pleased to meet you. The students have adjusted to the first two weeks of school. We are reviewing school, classroom, lunch room, hallway and bathroom norms. They are doing very well learning all new first grade expectations. We have given our math baseline test to see what the students have retained from last year and are currently assessing the students with their reading skills. We will be setting up conferences soon to go over the information. Dates to Remember Sept. 12th Sweet Frog Day for CCE Sept. 15th – Spirit Day: Polka Dot Day for International Dot Day. Sept. 15th - School Store Open 7:00 – 7:30 am. Reminders of the Week If you have not paid for your child’s Scholastic News please do so. The cost is $7.50. Lunch money needs to have student name and lunch number attached to it. Monday will be Day 5 on the Enhancement Rotation. PTO CCE Spirit Wear CCE PTO has just launched the new CCE spirit wear campaign...check it out!! You will have 21 days to place your orders. Then they will be shipped directly to you between Oct 4-16th!! The money raised will go towards our NEW playground upgrades coming this year!!!
