Welcome Parent Information Session Reception

Curriculum Overview

Non-negotiables Writing Sentence structure Write simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others. Write own name correctly. Punctuation Use capital letters and full stops to demarcate sentences. Handwriting Correct grip. Write name (correct upper and lower case)/ Correct letter formation for familiar words. Text structure Clearly demarcated sentences.

Non-negotiables Reading Decoding/ Phonics Secure at phase 4. Read some common irregular words. Patterns and Rhymes Identify rhymes and alliteration. Join in with rhyming patterns. Comprehension and Understanding Read & understand simple sentences. Demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read. Prediction, inference & deduction Make basic predictions. Grammatical Features Identify start and end of a sentence.

Non-negotiables Mathematics Non-negotiables Reading Count reliably to 20. Order numbers 1 – 20. Numbers & more/less Say 1 more/1 less to 20. Calculations +/- Add & subtract two single digit numbers.

Timetable for the week Snack money to be paid on a Monday- £1.30 PE every Monday- children will need PE kit on this day.

Trips

Homework Weekly newsletter send home every Friday. This will have information based on children’s learning for that week. Will also include ways in which you can be supporting children at home including key words etc.

Reading at home Reading books will be sent home after half term. Children will receive two books a week.
