Which part of you… Contains the smallest bones in your body? Never stops working, even when you are asleep? Can sense changes in air pressure? Can be permanently damaged by 7 minutes of loud noises or music?

Yes, it’s…your ears!

Changes in air pressure cause the ear drum to vibrate.

This makes the bones (ossicles) move.

The cochlea changes these movements into electrical signals …and sends them to your brain.

Your brain filters the sounds. It can tell where a sound is coming from based on tiny differences in timing. Your brain works out what sounds MEAN.
