Mrs. Hilton’s Final Exam English 2 Socratic Seminar Overview and Question Pool

Quick overview of Socratic Seminar 6 people on inside having dialogue on one of 6 questions Outside circle taking notes Everyone must participate in a Socratic to get a grade Question is projected Group has 1 minute to prep 5 minutes to discuss Mrs. Hilton will not interject Self reflection at end

Requirements for Socratic All answers must answered in a minimum of 4-5 sentences. All answers need to include at least one example from the text to support your point. A final draft of the questions and answers must be submitted the first day of the seminar, Wednesday 5/28. The final draft must be typed, 12 point font, and double spaced. No exceptions.

Socratic Seminar Questions In your group, on your own paper, answer the following questions. Be sure to use examples from the texts that we used. Choose 5 themes that you felt were universal to all fairy tales. Explain how they are universal. Choose a hero, princess, or villain from one of the stories that we read. Why are they the best hero, princess or villain? Use specific examples from the texts to support your answer. Also, use Ethos, Pathos and Logos to defend your choice.

Explain your reasoning. 4.There are 4 different types of conflict: man vs. man, man vs. self, man vs. society, and man vs. nature. Explain which type of conflict is evident in the majority of fairy tales. Give at least one example to support your opinion.
