The Amazon In Your Home! By George Boyd Scrolling text repeating until end of slide

Did you know, that there are objects in your own Home that originally came from deep within the Amazon rain forest! Shall we take a look at some?

Chocolate Chocolate grows from the Cacao plant which grows wild in the Amazon

Medicine Plants that help fight cancer used around the world, also come from the amazon!

Food! A lot of the food we eat originates from the amazon rainforest, such as avocados, coconuts, grapefruit, bananas, guavas and pineapples to name but a few..

Nuts! Did you know that brazil nuts and cashew nuts started off in a tropical climate such as the amazon?!

Coffee Some amazon people make their money by selling coffee beans to the outside world

Shampoo Lots of ingredients found in shampoo, like the passion fruit, are grown in rainforests too.

Spices No matter what type of food you like, the spices not only taste nice but quite often come from the rain forest

Unfortunately, some products are grown in a way that causes harm to the rainforest and the people and animals that live there. You can make sure you’re making a positive impact by choosing products that contain one or more of the following labels: * Fairtrade * Organic * Rainforest Alliance * Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) * RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil)

I hope you have enjoyed my project. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them now Thank you for listening!
