Copyright © American Speech-Language-Hearing Association From: Three Treatments for Teachers With Voice Disorders:  A Randomized Clinical Trial J Speech Lang Hear Res. 2003;46(3):670-688. doi:10.1044/1092-4388(2003/053) Legend: Mean ratings and standard errors for the voice amplification (VA), resonance therapy (RT), and respiratory muscle training (RMT) groups on the posttreatment questionnaire (as-treated analysis). After treatment, participants were asked to rate their extent of voice improvement and treatment compliance on a 5-point scale (1= not at all, 5 = a lot). The four questions related to voice symptom improvement, vocal clarity, ease of speaking and singing voice, and degree of compliance with the prescribed treatment program. Asterisks above the columns indicate significant differences based on pairwise least squares difference comparisons of mean ratings (α = .05). On each comparison related to the perceived benefits of treatment, the VA group significantly outperformed the RT and RMT groups (single asterisk). In addition, participants in the VA and RMT groups reported significantly greater compliance with their respective therapy program as compared to the RT group (double asterisks).
