Borah Mitigators Problem Definition: Sponsor: Idaho Power Borah West Path thermally limited during high demand periods following loss of critical transmission lines Explore compensation for thermal effects increasing load carrying capacity in lines May avoid dropping loads during peak demand Sponsor: Idaho Power Client: Dave Angell and Orlando Ciniglio, Idaho Power Engineering Advisor: Dr. Brian Johnson and Dr. Joe Law, University of Idaho Professors Method: Determine which lines will limit modified Borah model system Using DC contingency analysis, determine mitigation scheme for Borah model system Determine the coefficients for the variables; Jim-Bridger Local-Area-Load Local-Area-Generation Pre-Line (Borah-Adelaide) Borah West Modified Borah West Future Work: Using DC Contingency write up and recommendation, our method will be expanded to the full WECC system. Team Members: Mark Magee, Kyle Jones, and Jason Rippee
