Text Dependent Analysis Claim = topic sentence= answer When asked a question about literature, we find textual evidence to support our claim. We then analyze how and why the evidence we’ve chosen supports ( explains) our claim.

When we answer TDA Claim Context Strong quote- review Analysis

Analysis Vs. Summarizing Analyze Definition: examine methodically and in detail the constitution or structure of (something, especially information), typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation Summarize Definition: to tell (information) again using fewer words

Analyzing Literature When we analyze, we are looking at the words, sentences, and pages that the author is writing, and determining deeper meaning or author’s intention within literature. When we analyze, we are synthesizing an intention from the author. It is rooted from our schema and the textual evidence that is written. It is in some form our opinion, but it is rooted in evidence and experience. When we analyze, we do not summarize!

Text Dependent Analysis Sentence Starters This indicates… This implies… The author is showing… It is evident that… The author is making it clear…
