European Peace Route - Trenčín The Trenčín Castle Is the one of the largest castles in Slovakia and the place where the Treaty of Trenčín was signed. The earliest references date back to the beginning of the 12th century. Towards the end of the 13th century, the royal county castle became the possession of the oligarch Mattew Csák of Trenčín. It is a dominant castle of the whole region and the national cultural heritage. The castle of Trenčín is opened to visitors all year round.
