Angels Exam Question Learning Objective: To explain Muslim beliefs about angels. I can recap my learning on angels. I can write an answer to the exam question ‘Explain two Muslim teachings about angels.’ I can review and improve my answer and act on feedback.

Plan an Exam Answer Explain two Muslim teachings about angels. Refer to scripture or sacred writings in your answer. (5 marks) Consensus Circle: Draw a circle in the middle of your sugar paper. In silence each person in the group is going to write outside of the circle everything they have learnt about angels (nature and their role). Share what each person has written with your group. As a group plan your exam answer in the middle of the circle – what are you going to write in each paragraph? BUG the question with students. Then get them to complete a consensus circle activity to help them with their planning. During the group planning stage of the activity give one student the role of an envoy to see how other groups have planned their answer.

Write your answer Explain two Muslim teachings about angels. Refer to scripture or sacred writings in your answer. (5 marks) Possible sentence starters: One Muslim teaching about angels is… This is illustrated through the quote… Therefore… Another Muslim teaching about angels is… An example to support this is…

Angels Exam Question Learning Objective: To explain Muslim beliefs about angels. I can recap my learning on angels. I can write an answer to the exam question ‘Explain two Muslim teachings about angels.’ I can review and improve my answer and act on feedback.

Review your answer… Carefully proof read your answer Have you... Included a quote Used a variety of connectives Developed your points Included full stops, commas and capital letters 2. Spot the Difference: now compare your answer to this model answer. Look for similarities and differences. Use the model answer to make improvements to your own. One Muslim teaching about angels is that an angel is always with each human, for example, writing down their actions in the book of deeds or protecting them as a guarding angel. This is illustrated through the quote ‘For each, there are angels in succession, before and behind him. They guard him by the Command of Allah.’ Another Muslim teaching on angels is that there are four archangels, one of which is the angel Jibril. He was an important messenger as he relayed the Qur’an to Muhammad from God. This is because God cannot speak directly to humans but has to go through angels because they are sinless.

Peer Assessment Now that you have proof read and improved your answer hand it to the person next to you to be peer assessed. Use at least one sentence starter from each category: Be Kind: I really liked the way you… The most successful thing about this was… Excellent … throughout Be Specific: In the first/second/third paragraph/line… I think…is quite difficult to understand/could be explained better/could include more detail… Be Helpful: Think about adding… Have you thought about… To improve your … try … If there is time students need to act on their peer assessment feedback before the end of the lesson.
