I-Station Hardware, Installation & maintenance

I – STATION HARDWARE INSTALLATION DETAILS This module covers the installation aspects of the I-Station. For operational and general features, refer to the I-Station manual. SAFETY WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Apart from fitting the AUX-101 local options daughter card, there are no user serviceable units within the I-Station For proper ventilation, make sure ventilation openings are not blocked. Mains AC Power Each I-Station has an internal power supply, with a removable AC power cord. The power supply is “universal,” operating over a voltage range of 90 to 245 VAC and 50 to 60 Hz. The maximum dissipation is 40 W Adjustments No initial adjustments are required to set up the panels other than the standard input level adjustment made through the Eclipse EHX Configuration System. Configuration Assign each panel’s name and other parameters by using the Eclipse EHX Configuration System. For instructions, see the Eclipse EHX Configuration System Manual. More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 2

I – STATION HARDWARE INSTALLATION DETAILS Comms Module. At the rear of the I-Station, the comms module contains two RJ45 connectors. J3 is for matrix connection, while J1 is for connection to an expansion panel (switches or pots). The D15 connector J2 is currently unused. The panel to matrix cable uses a straight through one-to-one cable STP CAT5 cable. The run length can be up to 1kM (5/8 mile). The pinning for the cable(s) to expansion panel(s) is the same pinning except that pairs 1 and 3 are not used, and the maximum length should be no more than 1m (3 ft) between expansion panels. Pair 1 Audio output from Matrix to panel Pair 2 RS-422 data input from panel to Matrix Pair 3 Audio input from panel to Matrix Pair 4 RS-422 data output from Matrix to panel More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 3

I – STATION HARDWARE - EXPANSION PANELS You can connect a maximum of Six I-Station expansion panel (E-1410) Four V-panels (V-1400) to an I-Station intercom panel. A total of six expansions (any combination) in total connected to one main host panel The expansion panels are connected using straight CAT5 cables To form a valid configuration, you cannot connect more than two I-station v-panels together in the “daisy-chain.” The maximum cable length should be no more than 1m (3 ft) between expansion panels More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 4

I – STATION HARDWARE - EXPANSION PANELS FULLY POPULATED I-SERIES CONFIGURATION V-panel controlling upper listen level keys of Host panel Host I-Series panel V-panel controlling lower listen level keys of Host panel V-panel controlling upper listen level keys of expansion panel Expansion key panel V-panel controlling lower listen level keys of expansion panel More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 5

I – STATION HARDWARE – AUXILIARY OPTIONS MODULE At the rear of the I-Station, the Auxiliary Options Module carries connectors for: General purpose inputs Relay outputs Speaker-feed output Line-level output Hot-microphone output Program input Auxiliary microphone input More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 6

I – STATION HARDWARE – AUXILIARY OPTIONS MODULE General Purpose Inputs The upper D25F connector at the rear supports two opto-isolated logic inputs to the system. These may be used for footswitches or for incoming steady state signals from another system. See handbook for other application details and for connection in iso/non-iso mode. GPI wiring procedure To operate logic #1 input . Using a footswitch or similar Wire footswitch to pin 14 and pin 15 of DB-25F Wire a jumper link from pin 1 to pin 5 of Logic#1 functions are accessed via HX software More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 7

I – STATION HARDWARE – AUXILIARY OPTIONS MODULE General Purpose Outputs The lower D25F connector at the rear is for general purpose outputs. Three relay outputs are offered, single pole double throw. “Aux” relay can be used for controlling external equipment eg. Releasing a door lock or illuminating an applause lamp. “Mute” relay is generally activated by any talk key on the panel and may be used to dim or mute external loudspeaker audio in order to avoid howl-round or disruption to the comms traffic.. More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 8

I – STATION HARDWARE – AUXILIARY OPTIONS MODULE Line level Speaker output This is a fixed line level output of the speaker- it is not affected by the volume pot External speaker output If an external speaker is plugged into this connector, the front-panel internal speaker is still active. You can deactivate one or both speakers through the Eclipse EHX Configuration System. The front-panel’s main-volume knob controls the volume for both the rear-panel and front-panel speakers. The volume of both speakers is the same. More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 9

I – STATION HARDWARE – AUXILIARY OPTIONS MODULE Hot microphone output J8 male XLR. Line level. Always “live”, unless disabled from the front panel Program Input J9 female XLR. Line level. Audio level controllable by the front “Vol/Prog” level control. Auxiliary microphone input J10 female XLR. Mic level (for dynamic mic). More details are available in the I-series Instruction Manual 10

Thank you!
