2. Name the Danger apply their knowledge of essential safety practices to take an active role in their own safety at school understand how to stay safe and avoid injuries by responding orally to a variety of situations.

Name the Danger Who can share some important things we need to know and do to keep ourselves safe? What are some safety rules for home or school? What is a specific safety rule for outdoor play?

Name the Danger In groups of 3, look at your card, identify what is happening in the picture, and then say what you would do in that situation. Repeat with a new card.

What do you do? You find matches on the floor at home. You see toys on the stairs at home. Your sister starts to ride her bike without her helmet on. Your grandmother accidentally leaves her paint cleaner open on the counter. You see pills on the table at a friend’s house.

What do you do? You are very hot and think about the swimming pool in your neighbour’s back yard. The gate is open. Your ball goes into the road. The stove is on. It is a hot and sunny day and you’re going to play outside. Your baby brother starts to put stickers in his mouth.

What do you do? You notice that a new student at school is opening a chocolate bar that contains peanuts. There is a boy in your class with an allergy to nuts. On the playground you notice students playing in an unsupervised area, which you know kids aren’t allowed to play in.
