The Books of Titus and Philemon Lesson 41: The Books of Titus and Philemon Scriptures in quotation marks are taken from the KING JAMES VERSION of the Bible.

Titus 1:12 – 1. “Liars” 2. “Evil beasts” (evil brutes) 3. “Slow bellies” (lazy gluttons)

“Blameless” – without outstanding fault Titus 1: 6-9 “Blameless” – without outstanding fault “No striker” – not violent or mean “Not given to filthy lucre” – not after dishonest gain “Able . . . to convince gainsayers” – Able to show the error of those who teach false doctrine

The aged men (2:2) – Be “sober” (sensible), respectable, “sound in faith” and love. The aged women (2:3) – Should not be slanderers, not given to wine, “teachers of good things” The slaves (2:9-10) – Should “be obedient,” not pilfering, and show they can be fully trusted

Titus 2:11-15 – In grace God sent Jesus to die and redeem us from our sins. Sin is what nailed Jesus to the cross, and if we love Him, we will have no part of it. Titus 3:9 – Avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, arguments, and quarrels about the law, because these are useless.
