Each nomination should consist of the nomination form and the recommended written information. Consistent with the past few years, Digital Videos will ONLY be required for the three selected finalists. Due Date: Friday, November 3, 2017

Nomination Materials Organize all required nomination materials into a single Microsoft Word .doc electronic file in the following order: 1) The Nomination Form 2) Nominee’s current CV or resume (outline of professional background and experience), 3) A statement to describe the nominee’s specific role in supporting the effective use of technology to support teaching and learning. 4) Nominee’s responses to the four questions listed.

Nomination Materials Responses to the following four questions submitted in 10 pt. Arial font, or 12 pt. Times New Roman font and 1” margins: How do you help reduce or remove barriers for effective technology use in your school or school system? (250 word limit.) How do you evaluate the effectiveness of digital technology use in your school or district? (250 word limit.)

Nomination Materials What is your vision of how digital learning can prepare today's students to be successful in attaining college and career readiness and what have you done to move your school towards this vision? (250 word limit.) How is the use of technology assisting your school's endeavors for monitoring student academic progress? (250 word limit.)

Procedures and Timelines Nomination packets are due via email by Friday, November 3, 2017. The Selection Committee will review all nominations and select three finalists (November 6 – 16, 2017). The three finalists and respective district voting members will be notified by Friday, November 17, 2017 and will have until Friday, December 15, 2017 to submit their digital video. The video must be limited to three minutes in length and can be produced by the school or the district. If a district needs assistance in producing the video, please contact Gary Evans (gary.evans@audioenhancement.com).

Procedures and Timelines Nomination forms and digital videos will be made available to all FCITL members to assist the voting members in casting their votes (January 8 – 12, 2017) All three finalists will be invited to attend a FCITL-sponsored Awards Luncheon in association with FETC 2018 (January 23 - 26, 2018) where they will be recognized and celebrated. Each finalist will receive an award commemorating this recognition; their digital videos will be shown, and the winner will be announced.

Tips from ISTE Reviewers They are looking for detailed, specific descriptions rather than generalities in describing what the person has done.   Ideally there is data to back up any claims, from research studies that are small in nature. Increase in test scores, promotion, more going to college, etc. Fewer dropouts. Attempt to paint a word picture of the working environment. It is perhaps an intangible, but having something of inspiration, success, overcoming incredible difficulties gives a slight edge. (A principal who comes into an A school isn't nearly as interesting as one who makes an A school.)

VERY IMPORTANT! Regarding the principal videos that are being created as part of this application process… Only use MUSIC that you have RIGHTS to USE!! We can not post the videos if they have copyrighted music or other media.

ADVOCACY!! In this budget challenged time this award is an extremely cost effective way to promote the great things that are happening in our schools and districts utilizing technology. The bigger deal that you can make about this award locally, the better off we deliver our message! Get your local media involved! Photo ops with legislators acknowledging your local award is always a win-win for all!
