‘CELEBRATION OF PRAISE’ THE CHANCEL CHOIR ‘CELEBRATION OF PRAISE’

A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

THE NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURE Matthew 13:24-33 Read by Roy Palk, J.D. Jesus told this parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

The owner's servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: ‘First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

(5) Sure as Your truth shall last, To Zion shall be given The brightest glories earth can yield, And brighter bliss of heaven.

The Fifth in a Lenten sermon series Bayshore Gardens Community Church “THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITHIN YOU” Matthew 13:24-33 The Fifth in a Lenten sermon series on The Lord’s Prayer See Luke 17:20-21 The Kingdom of God does not come visibly; nor can people say, ‘Here it is’ or ‘There it is’ because the Kingdom of God is within you.’ (Please see sermon outline)  Bayshore Gardens Community Church Dr. Daniel Herlein

TWO DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD FIRST: There will be a coming physical kingdom of God (future) which the Lord Jesus will someday establish when he returns again to the earth. SECOND: The present spiritual Kingdom of God actually within us right now; i.e., God literally reigning within us as King of our lives

Here is Jesus’ response to the Pharisees in answer to their question about WHEN the kingdom of God was coming: “The Kingdom of God does not come visibly; nor can people say, ‘Here it is’ or ‘There it is’ because ‘THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU.’ Luke 17:20-21 Paul reiteration: 1 Corinthians 3:16 “Don’t you realize that YOU are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells WITHIN YOU?”

and will be challenged by Parable of the Weeds - Matthew 13:24-30 Jesus also taught that the Kingdom of God that is, God’s reign within us, will exist along side of us and will be challenged by everything in this world that is opposed to God. Parable of the Weeds - Matthew 13:24-30

Parable of the Mustard Seed Parable of the Leavened Dough In addition, Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God begins within us, very small, and grows to the extent we are willing to submit ourselves to God and allow Him to be King in our lives. Parable of the Mustard Seed Parable of the Leavened Dough Matthew 13:31-32

THY KINGDOM COME means God reigning within us as Lord of our lives. THY KINGDOM COME means an inner condition of mind, will, and spirit in which God’s will becomes our will. THY KINGDOM COME means living in an way that embraces God honoring attitudes, God honoring conduct, God honoring relationships.

THY KINGDOM COME means there is a profound inner peace built upon peace with God, peace with others, peace within ourselves. THY KINGDOM COME means experienceing inner joy and contentment because of God’s steadfast presence, all around us and within us, even when it feels like everything around us is falling apart.

THY KINGDOM COME means that God living and reigning within us begins small and grows as we give ourselves more and more to God. THY KINGDOM COME means that God’s Kingdom within us exists along side of evil which will ultimately be judged and destroyed. God’s Kingdom will be eternally triumphant.

GOD’S PROMISE IN 2 CORINTHIANS 4:8-9 WE MAY BE HARD PRESSED ON EVERY SIDE, BUT WE WILL NOT BE CRUSHED; WE MAY BE PERPLEXED, BUT WE WILL NOT BE DRIVEN TO DESPAIR; WE MAY BE PERSECUTED, BUT WE WILL NOT BE ABANDONED; WE MAY BE STRUCK DOWN, BUT WE WILL NOT BE DESTROYED.

(Please read together) “THY KINGDOM COME” (Please read together) Our Holy God and Heavenly Abba-Father, whose authority and name is absolute and perfect in all the heavens, Come, establish and reign within me Your authority and holiness, in all that I am and in all that I have.

The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.
