Ten Money Saving Tips for Teenagers By: Lynne Kim

What are some easy ways to save money?

Tip #1

Ask yourself a few questions before you purchase something For clothing/apparel: Is this something that I will wear regularly? Do I already own something like this? If I wait a month to buy this item, would I still want it then? For technology: Is this a need or a necessity? Or is this more of a want because all of my friends have it? Most important question: Can I get it for less? Ask yourself a few questions before you purchase something http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #2

Put half of your month's income in your savings account and with the other half, leave it in your chequings for spending money. This is a good idea because you are still saving money as well as using the money you worked hard for into good use. If you have a job... (I made up the idea. No citation)

Tip #3

Use gift cards or coupons! Never let a good gift card go to waste. Purposely go to a shop where you have a gift card or coupon to and look around the store. You will most likely be able to find something you like and on top of that, you will pay so much less for that item! http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #4

Borrow books from the library We can all get a library card for free. Why should we waste money on buying books that we will read once, when we can borrow a perfectly good book from the library FOR FREE Borrow books from the library Locations nearby: -North Vancouver District Library in Edgemont Village -North Vancouver City Library on Lonsdale Ave. http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #5

Of course the apparel at the front of the store is prettier than the sale or clearance section, but try to ignore the rest of the clothing and pick out the best item you can buy that is for a reasonable price. Some full price items are just way too expensive and it is not worth the money. Shop Sales Only! http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #6

It is easy to look on Pinterest and find easy DIYs (do it yourself) to make with some extra supplies you have lying around at home. It does not cost anything and it saves a ton of money. Plus, you learn many fun craft and recipe ideas just from looking on Pinterest. Pinterest http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #7

Share clothes or shoes with friends! If your friend has a shirt or a piece of clothing that you desperately want to buy, then you can always ask to borrow it for a day than going out and buying it for a one time wear. If you and your friend share the same size shoe, then you can always borrow the shoes or boots and cleanly return it to them. http://teensgotcents.com/25-ways-i-save-money/

Tip #8

Sell some of your unwanted things (I made up the idea. No citation) You can always sell some of your unwanted clothing, shoes, maybe some old Blu-ray dvds over on different kinds of social media or even Craigslist. One’s junk is another man’s treasure. Don’t throw it out just because it does not have any meaning to you. Sell some of your unwanted things

Tip #9

Set up a monthly budget for yourself (I made up the idea. No citation) Take out however much your maximum spending is from your bank account. Keep it in cash and try to only use that much money a month. If you set your mind to it, you can have a proper budget for yourself. This is a good way for saving money because it makes sure you only spend however much you allow yourself to and it prevents less impulse buys. Set up a monthly budget for yourself

Tip #10

(I made up the idea. No citation) Smarter Spending Instead of buying some items like nail polish or mascara, it would be smarter to save up and buy something bigger and more expensive that you’d like. Shoes or a new phone is a good example of smarter spending.

Conclusion Overall, I know that it is hard to save money, especially when there are so many things people would like to purchase, but it is very important to save your money and use it when necessary. I hope that this slideshow has helped you in some way and hopefully you will become a better money saver now! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!
