Grassland biomes are large, rolling terrains of grasses, flowers and herbs. The plants that grow in a each specific grassland is dependent upon latitude (distance above or below the equator), soil quality, and local weather. Savanna Grassland Climate- Savanna Grassland Climate- The Savanna Grasslands has a temperature range of 68° to 86° F (20° - 30° C). In the winter, it is usually about 68° to 78° F (20° - 25° C). During the wet season(May to November),the annual rainfall on average amounts to 50.8 to 127 cm (20-50 inches) per year. The rain all comes within a 6-8 month period, leaving the rest of the year in drought. If Savannah Grasslands had their rain spread out through the year, it would become a tropical rainforest. Temperate Climate- Temperate grasslands have hot summers and cold winters. Summer temperatures can be over a 90℉ for a long period of time, which is not uncommon for temperate grasslands. The winters can be as low as -40℉. They usually have between 10-35 inches of precipitation, mostly happening in late spring and summer. There are frequent fires in all grassland biomes, as well as a steady amount of droughts so trees don’t overpower the land. HALEIGH
