Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Mrs. Lammons’ Newsletter September 4-8 Homework: Homework is only used to reinforce skills taught in class. 30 minutes per night is the maximum that should be spent working on homework. Your child should read 20 minutes every night . Students need to read different genres to meet the 40 Book Challenge. The planner is located in your child’s G.O. book. Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Math: Chapter 1 Extra Practice (pages 21 & 22) The math test will be Thursday. *Homework pages are found in the GO Math Standards Practice workbook. Important Dates: 9/4 No School 9/5&6 Hearing and Vision Screenings 9/7 TCBY Restaurant Night 3-9PM 9/12 Dedicated Dads at OES 6:45AM 9/12 Auburn Reads at Auburn Mall 5-7PM 9/14 LifeSouth at Blood Mobile 9AM-3PM What We Are Learning Read Aloud: When I was Young in the Mountains by Cynthia Rylant Comprehension: I can analyze the setting. Grammar: I can identify nouns as a part of speech. Phonics: I can spell words with short a and long a (ex trap, safe). Writing: I can write a personal narrative. Math: I can learn about the place value of 2-digit numbers and even and odd numbers. (Test Thursday) Social Sciences: I can make observations from media to obtain information about Earth's events that happen over a short period of time (e.g., tornados, volcanic explosions, earthquakes) or over a time period longer than one can observe (e.g., erosion of rocks, melting of glaciers). A HUGE thank you goes out to the Zapp family for donating 2 balance chairs to our classroom.
