Respect To think highly of someone and act in a manner that shows our high regard
Resurrection When Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday The Sadducees did not believe in resurrection
Reverence The respect that is due God and others because they are made in God’s image

Sacrament An outward sign, instituted by Christ to give us grace
Sacramental sign The form (words) and matter (stuff) of a sacrament which determines its validity The words and material are crucial to the validity of the sacrament
Sacraments of healing Penance and anointing of the sick Both bring healing and strength to the soul
Sacraments of initiation Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation Confirmation is the fulfillment of the sacraments of initiation
Sacraments of service (vocation) Holy Matrimony and Holy Orders Both of these serve God and the Church Strong families lead to more vocations, more vocations lead to stronger families
Sacrifice Something that is offered to God. At Mass we offer Jesus to God as a sacrifice for our sins
Sainthood To be recognized by the Church as a Saint One is declared a saint by the Pope This is done after a person’s life has been investigated through their writings, through those who knew them, and by the miracles that have occurred through their intercession
Salvation History The story of how God entered human history in order to save us
Savior Jesus Christ He is our Savior because he saved us from sin and eternal death through His Passion, death and Resurrection
