Foundation 1 Maths Number Recognition

Development matters: 30-50M Over the past few weeks we have been looking at recognising our numbers up to 10 and even up to 20! The children have been doing lots of different activities to help them. In foundation we work from a document called ‘development matters’. This is how we assess children and help them with their next steps. This is the statement linked to our learning this week. Development matters: 30-50M Uses some number names and number language spontaneously. • Uses some number names accurately in play. • Recites numbers in order to 10. Shows an interest in number problems.

Recognising our numbers. Our F1s have been working so hard practising their number recognition. They have been exploring different activities to practise inside….

….and outside!

We have even been practising ordering our numbers 1-10 independently. Number Ordering. We have even been practising ordering our numbers 1-10 independently.

Parents can help by……. Looking at numbers in the environment. EG. Numbers on buses, signs, front doors, in shops etc. Encouraging children to say and spot numbers around them independently. Counting in everyday tasks. EG. Counting pillows, their toys, cars passing by, houses etc. Thank you The EYFS Team 
