Here are questions to help you deal with your Emotions: What am I feeling? Why do I feel this way? How can I respond in a healthful way?

How does Anger affect a person’s Body How does Anger affect a person’s Body? If Emotions are neither good nor bod, why do emotions sometimes lead to problems? What other emotions can you name?

***ANGER CAN BE VERY HARMFUL IF YOU TRY TO KEEP IT HIDDEN*** Coping with Anger ***ANGER CAN BE VERY HARMFUL IF YOU TRY TO KEEP IT HIDDEN*** ANGER MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Talk with a parent, guardian, or other respected adult Use self-statements to control your anger— “I will not let this get to me” Use I-messages to express your feelings— “I feel angry because…” Participate in physical activity Find an artistic outlet—write a story, poem, draw or paint a picture that helps you express your feelings Write a letter expressing your angry feelings—it helps you get in touch with the cause and how it affects you. Write it and put it aside for a couple of days.

Dealing with Criticism Questions: How can criticism be helpful? Why does criticism sometimes lead to anger? What makes criticism valid? Why are valid criticisms actually useful to the person being criticized? Resiliency: is being able to bounce back from misfortune, change, or pressure— including criticism. *If you are resilient you can recover from disappointment, stress, feelings of depression, and criticism. Resilient = empowered!! You have control over your behavior & decisions

Anxiety—is a feeling of dread, similar to fear. It may include worry, concern, stress, or nervousness. Anxiety is a normal part of life that everyone faces at sometime.

Anxiety Disorder General Anxiety Disorder— restlessness, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, sleep disturbance Panic Disorder—rapid heartbeat, sweating, trembling, fear of losing control, shortness of breath, nausea Phobia—exaggerated fear of specific situations (such as flying) or objects (such as spiders) Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder— Obsessions (being unable to stop thinking about certain things) and compulsions (behaviors or rituals that a person feels the need to repeat, such as hand washing, counting, and arranging possessions) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder— Constant worry, fear, or stress after a frightening experience such as abuse, a natural disaster, an accident, or serious violence
