Water Monitoring System Leveraging on Technology to Increase Efficiency in monitoring water storage Resources (tanks), Consumption and Quality during Shortages or Dry seasons and relaying the information in real-time.

Other sensors inside tank to monitor the quality Ultrasonic (wireless) sensor Q = Q1+Q2+Q3 Q is the overall flow-rate. BUFFER AREA Flow-rate sensor1 Flow-rate Sensor 2 Pipe Municipal Council water Arbitrary distance from buffer area to home Pipe MAIN TANK RESEIVOIR AREA Other sensors inside tank to monitor the quality Pipe Secondary Source Rainfall, gutters and borehole Wireless Receiver HOME LCD Monitor at home WATER MONITORING AND STORAGE SYSTEM DIAGRAM

Monitoring Consumption Use of Ultrasonic Sensors in Tanks to determine the vertical height (H) of the water level per unit time As the diameter (D) of the tank is known we can determine the volume (V). We can set a Min height to raise an alarm and activate counter-measures

Monitoring Consumption This data will help to determine the rate of Consumption per unit time. The Data will help determine the volume of water remaining in the tank and the rate of consumption that it will take to empty it. When the level attains its Min Level an alarm will be triggered and an Automatic pumping Mechanism is triggered to pump water from a secondary storage. This data will be relayed in real time and it will aid in coming up with counter-measures for homes and farmers.

Monitoring leakages Use of Sensors to identify leakages by measuring the flow-rate from the buffer area (Municipal Council) to the respective zones. Given by the equation; Q = Q1 + Q2 + Q3 Where Q is the total flow rate from the buffer area Q1, Q2, Q3 are the respective pipe branches going to homes Scenario 1 ; No Leakages Sum of Q1, Q2, Q3 measured should equal the total flow-rate Q i.e. Q - (Q1+Q2+Q3) = 0 (No leakages ) amount of water from source is equal to the sum of water delivered in different destinations Scenario 2 ; Leakages Sum of Q1, Q2, Q3 measured does not equal the Total flow-rate Q i.e. Q – (Q1+Q2+Q3) != 0

Monitoring Quality Sensors to monitor water quality in storage areas that measure 12 chemical and physical water quality parameters such as PH, dissolved minerals and hard metals . This will ensure that the water is kept safe and uncontaminated and Counter-measures are applied if the water shows signs of contamination.
